D-Tools Buying Power Index (BPI) Reveals Regional Equipment Sales Activity by Region
The D-Tools Buying Power Index (BPI) provides a detailed analysis of U.S. integrator equipment purchasing activity by state and region for the first half of 2025, covering ten core product categories and over 50 additional equipment types, revealing that while larger states dominate sales, some smaller, colder-climate states showed notably stronger equipment sales growth in Q2 compared to Q1, offering manufacturers and distributors valuable market insights based on data exclusively from D-Tools Cloud at the end-user pricing level, excluding installation labor.
There is no question that certain regions of the U.S. are particular strongholds for the integration industry, but specifically how much of the market’s buying power is coming from particular states or regions?
In this free download, the first-ever D-Tools Buying Power Index (BPI) looks at the cumulative integrator equipment purchasing activity state by state across all product categories for the first half of 2025, as well as a comparison of Q1 vs. Q2 2025.
The mission of the D-Tools BPI data is to offer manufacturers and distributors data that they can use to analyze their own sales activity versus the market as a whole; by state, region or sales rep/distributor territory. Drawn solely from D-Tools Cloud, the D-Tools BPI examines integration channel equipment-only sales at the end-user pricing level from January 1, 2025 through June 30, 2025. It does NOT include any data from installation labor sales.
The D-Tools BPI examines integration channel equipment-only sales at the end-user pricing level from January 1, 2025 through June 30, 2025.
The BPI cumulatively includes data from 10 core equipment categories:
- Control
- Electrical
- Security
- Lighting
- Audio/video
- Source components
- Wire & cable
- Networking
- Multi-room audio/video
- Motorized shades
D-Tools also tracks market activity across more than 50 equipment categories, such as access control, acoustical treatments, amplifiers, AVRs, central vacuum, power, seating/furniture, rack, remote, surveillance, audio conferencing, video conferencing, loudspeakers, digital signage, mounts, screens, signal distribution, projectors, displays, microphones, and others.
The information drawn from D-Tools Cloud for the first six months of 2025 reveals that some of the larger states have the most equipment sales activity, but there are some other areas that are surprisingly solid. Indeed, the states that had much better Q2 2025 equipment sales compared to Q1 tend to be smaller and not surprisingly in colder climates where business activity picks up as the ground thaws.
